Tehran responds to Ankara’s accusations of sending fighters from Deir Ezzor to Yemen: “Ignorance!”

The Iranian embassy in Ankara denied the news published by the Turkish “Anadolu Agency” news agency about Tehran sending 120 Syrian fighters from Deir Ezzor Governorate in Syria to Yemen.

The Iranian embassy in Ankara wrote on its Twitter page: “The Iranian embassy in Ankara denies the news published by the Anadolu News Agency about the Iranian military forces transferring fighters from Syria to Yemen, and the embassy confirms that these allegations are indicative of ignorance of the facts on the ground.”

The Iranian embassy added that “these allegations contradict Iran’s approach to the disastrous and inhuman war against the Yemeni people, and Iran has always called for an end to the war on Yemen and has supported the United Nations efforts to reach a peaceful solution.”
“Anadolu Agency” quoted informed sources on Friday that “the Iranian Revolutionary Guard sent Syrian elements affiliated with it to Yemen to fight alongside the Ansar Allah Al-Houthi group in exchange for monthly salaries.”

The sources said, according to Anadolu Agency, that “the Revolutionary Guards sent a first batch of about 120 mercenaries from the towns and cities of Deir Ezzor Governorate in eastern Syria to Yemen to fight in the ranks of the Houthis against the Yemeni government.”
