Following the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education to its affiliated hospitals, to raise the degree of preparedness to confront the Corona virus, Damascus Hospital (Al-Mujtahid) raised its readiness in terms of expanding the isolation division, increasing the number of health personnel working in it, and reducing admissions for cold operations.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, confirmed the hospital’s readiness and the mobilization of most of its cadres to receive all cases of corona and work on preparing and expanding new people in order to accommodate the largest number of patients.
In a special statement to “Hashtag”, he pointed to the easing of non-ambulatory operations that can bear the delay and the increase in the number of cadres working in the departments and divisions of the isolation.
And Dr. Abbas indicated that the increase in Corona injuries during the last period is significant, as the cases referred to the hospital increased from zero to 44, on average, in the isolation departments.
Dr. Abbas stressed that the vaccine reduces the severity of infection, the risk of death and the need for hospital admission, but it does not prevent infection with the virus, pointing out the importance of following the full methods of protection and personal prevention, which is the basis for limiting the spread of the virus in addition to receiving the vaccine.
The director of Al-Mujtahid Hospital pointed out that there are 20 patients in the hospital’s intensive care, stressing that the complications of the virus in advanced cases that are seen in intensive care are clots and severe hypoxia.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health recorded 112 new infections with the Corona virus, which brings the total number to 27,115, and the recovery of 20 of the registered cases, bringing the total number to 22,329, and the death of 4 of the recorded infections, bringing the total number to 1981.
