SANA reported that 4 soldiers were martyred and 15 others were wounded in the targeting of army checkpoints by terrorist groups in Daraa.
The Syrian Arab Army units responded to the repeated attacks launched by armed groups with rocket and mortar shells on residential neighborhoods and army points in the city of Daraa, and targeted with concentrated strikes the missile launchers.
“The army units deployed in the vicinity of Daraa al-Balad neighborhood began on Monday, responding to the attacks of terrorists holed up in the neighborhood, after these groups escalated their attacks with rocket-propelled grenades, mortar shells, machine guns and sniper bullets on residential neighborhoods and army checkpoints,” SANA news agency reported.
The agency indicated that “the response operations included focused strikes through artillery and launchers on the points from which the terrorists’ shells are launched.”
“Over the past days, terrorist groups have intensified their attacks on residential neighborhoods with the aim of disrupting any efforts for a peaceful solution and ending terrorism’s control over the fate of the people they hold as human shields,” the agency said.
A member of the Internal Security Forces was killed and two others were wounded on Sunday by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by terrorist groups entrenched in the Daraa al-Balad area towards the launch garage.
