The National Center of Meteorology said that UAE recorded the highest rainfall in 27 years.
Fujairah is the highest in Emirates
The port of Fujairah station recorded 255.2 mm of water level after two days of continuous rain, the highest in UAE during the month of July.
While the second highest area was recorded in Masafi, reaching 209.7 mm.
After that, Fujairah Airport recorded 187.9 mm of rain.
2 low pressures
Today, Thursday, Ahmed Habib of the National Center of Meteorology told Khaleej Times: “We have low pressure coming from India with an upper and surface depression extending from parts of Pakistan and Iran.”
He pointed out that UAE “witnessed the impact of low pressure on July 25 and 26, especially in the eastern part of the country.”
He noted that the UAE experienced low pressure again on July 27.
The air was filled with heavy moisture coming from the Sea of Oman.
Habib said that there are two factors, or what is called a double effect, now. Local influence as well as low pressure.
This leads to continuous heavy rain.
Earlier, waterfalls flowed down the mountain slopes, leading to flooding of cars in the flooded streets.
Yesterday, Wednesday, temperatures dropped to 17 degrees Celsius, amid the height of summer.
It is reported that in the past three days, the National Center of Meteorology issued 20 weather warnings for each ministry, including the police.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast more rain throughout the week.
