Alamuddin indicated that UAE has taken several effective steps in this field, noting that in a survey conducted by the Knight Frank Foundation, which included 373 specialists in the field of real estate, UAE ranked 14th globally in terms of the number of sustainable buildings, revealing that it was the only country from The Gulf Cooperation Council countries that appeared among the top 30 buildings, noting that the number of green buildings in them reached 869, According to the Emirati newspaper, Al Bayan.
Alameddin explained that the World Economic Forum found that the construction industry around the world is responsible for about 38% of greenhouse gas emissions, while buildings represent more than 30% of global energy consumption, noting that in the UAE, energy use is one of the largest operating expenses. Buildings, which account for nearly a third of operating budgets, are also responsible for about 20% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions.
The Emirati official pointed out that the use of renewable energy and environmentally sustainable materials is one of the top priorities that take the fore to show the economic, social and environmental impact, explaining that urban communities use clean technology, whether it is the Internet of things or efficiency enhancing devices, to reduce pollution, considering that the importance of adopting practices Sustainable and environmentally friendly real estate sector is increasing dramatically in Emirates.
