A Syrian morning without breakfast and one meal is enough for one day “despite its bitterness”!

Amid the unforgiving wave of high prices, many citizens are suffering these days from a sharp rise in the prices of basic materials, which have become their daily conversations in the market, or through social networking sites.
Because of the high prices, many were forced to change their habits, including the food traditions they were acquainted with, and the difficult living situation contributed to the absence of many daily habits, including the morning breakfast that many used to eat.
Milk and its derivatives.. the dream of the poor
The prices of dairy and cheese continued to rise in Damascus markets during the past few days, recording an insane rise in some of them.
During a tour of one of the capital’s markets, “hashtag” monitored the prices of dairy products, where the price of a kilo of “labnah” reached 3000 Syrian pounds, cheese 7000 Syrian pounds, shalal cheese 8000 pounds, and yagurt 1700 pounds.
The price of a kilo of halloumi cheese is 10,000 pounds, and kashkawan cheese is 9,000 pounds, while the price of a kilo of milk is 1,200 Syrian pounds.
While the price of a carton plate of egg reached 8 thousand Syrian pounds in some shops and in other shops half the plate was 7000 pounds, according to one of the complaints that reached the “hashtag” from the Rukn Al-Din area, in Damascus.
Popular dishes for the elite only
The Syrians resorted to their popular dishes, known for their good taste and cheap prices, as one of the quick and available solutions, and to combat high prices, and it was a weekly tradition such as “Friday breakfast.” Those foods became an unattainable dream, after their price became beyond their capabilities, due to the high prices that they describe as crazy.
Where the price of a falafel sandwich reached 1700 SP, an Almsabha dish ranged from 1700 to 2000 SP, the price of a kilo of boiled beans, without oil and without spices or tahini, was 2500 SP.
Breakfast in restaurants for high Classes
At a time when ads for breakfast offers in restaurants fill social networking sites, it does not seem important to many citizens, as breakfast in one of these restaurants may cost the head of the family at least half of his salary.
Breakfast prices in restaurants range between 7,000 and 10,000 Syrian pounds if it is an open buffet, but if it is a group of home-made (labneh-cheese-jam-egg-caps-beans-fattah-pies-tea) the cost per person ranges between 4000 and 6000
pound.
After “probing” those prices, the Syrians were forced to dispense with breakfast, and rely on one meal a day, most likely it “does not satisfy their hunger.”
