Al-Assad and “Raisi” discuss by phone joint work and mutual support between Syria and Iran

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad stressed, during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Ibrahim Raisi, today, Sunday, the importance of joint work and mutual support between the two sides.

During the call, the two presidents exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, expressing their wishes for continued prosperity and progress for the Syrian-Iranian relations, and for the peoples of the two countries, according to SANA.

The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development and expansion to include new areas that contribute to achieving the interests of the two countries and their peoples, in addition to following up on the implementation of the agreements signed between the two sides.

Al-Assad and Raisi also discussed topics of common interest, situation in the region, and developments on the regional and international arenas.

The two presidents stressed the importance of joint work and mutual support between the two countries on many issues, which stems from the common positions and visions of the challenges facing the two countries and the region.
Al-Assad visit to Tehran
This call comes about two months after the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Tehran, during which he met the Iranian President and the Supreme Leader.

The Supreme Leader Al-Assad stressed during that visit that relations between Tehran and Damascus are vital, and that more joint efforts should be made to develop relations between the two countries.
In turn, Raisi Al-Assad stressed that there is a serious will on the part of Iran to strengthen the economic and trade partnership with Syria in various fields.
This is Al-Assad’s second visit to Iran since the start of the war on Syria, after his visit in 2018.
