Al-Assad issues a decree pardoning perpetrators of terrorist crimes

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad issued a general amnesty for Syrian perpetrators of terrorist crimes before the date of today, April 30, except for those that led to the death of a human being.
The Syrian presidency published a statement saying: President Bashar al-Assad issued Legislative Decree No. 7/ of 2022, which provides for a general amnesty for terrorist crimes committed by Syrians before the date of April 30, 2022, except for those that led to the death of a human being, and stipulated in the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 19 of 2012 and the Penal Code promulgated by Legislative Decree No. 148 of 1949 and its amendments.
According to the presidential decree, this amnesty does not affect the personal right lawsuit, and the injured may in all cases file his case before the competent civil court, and this decree is effective from the date of its issuance.
This decree comes right before Eid al-Fitr, which the Syrian government has announced will start on Monday, May 2nd.
