An engineering member was martyred while trying to defuse an explosive device planted in the car of an official in the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party in Daraa.
The “Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party” page said that unknown persons targeted the car of the party’s Secretary of the Daraa City Division, Issam al-Masalmeh, “with an explosive device of a concussive type, between the neighborhoods of al-Qusour and al-Sabeel” in the city.
The party’s media said that “the device was dealt with by detonating it from a distance,” adding that the explosion “led to the death of an engineering element while carrying out his duties in dealing with the device, in addition to material damage to the car as a result of its burning, while the members of the Daraa Fire Brigade rushed to deal with the fire.”
The media stated that “the hero who was martyred during his national duty in dealing with the bomb is Ahmed Zakaria Kadour, from the ranks of the 15th Division of the Syrian Arab Army.”
Incidents of explosive devices are frequent in the city of Daraa, as the competent authorities detonated a bomb yesterday near the Sharia school in the Al-Kashef neighborhood of the city, without injuries, according to local news pages.
Earlier this month, the city witnessed the explosion of a bomb in the North Al-Khat neighborhood, and a bomb exploded near the government complex building, without causing any casualties.
