A source in a fuel company announced that the price of a liter of free diesel was set at 1,700 Syrian pounds, as only smart card holders are allowed to obtain 50 liters per cycle, according to the newspaper “Al-Watan”.
The Ministry of Oil had announced earlier today that the distribution of the second batch of home heating fuel had begun, noting that those wishing to purchase 50 liters of diesel for each card at cost price.
A decision was issued last October to raise the price of a liter of industrial and commercial fuel oil for private industrial facilities and private commercial and service activities to 1,700 pounds.
Syria is witnessing a crisis in the availability of oil derivatives, with their prices rising dramatically, while official officials attributed the cause of the crisis to economic sanctions and the destruction of oil wells.
