The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority reveals the fees for permits for cellular devices, “Customs…to prevent being drawn into rumours!”

Authority
The Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority issued a statement regarding the fees for permitting cellular devices, permit procedures for travelers, and the period of permission to work on Syrian cellular networks for cellular devices that worked on the network after the date of March 18th.
This statement followed the statement of the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority, which included the resumption of work on the individual declaration of cellular devices that worked or will work on the cellular network as of March 14 of the same year.
The authority indicated in it that the new permit fees are related to the real price of each device and its technical specifications, not specific segments.
The authority added that the current permit fees from the devices that were inquired by subscribers range from 70 thousand SYP to one million and 500 thousand as a maximum (for the iPhone 12 pro Max) and the value of the permit decreases with the decrease in the value and specifications of the cellular device.
The authority added in the statement that the new mechanism was launched with the aim of making the permit fee commensurate with the real value of the cellular device, preventing any manipulation of identifying segments and achieving justice among subscribers so that the permit fee is commensurate with the real value of the device.
In order to provide the necessary time for subscribers to inquire about the fee of the permit and pay its fees, the Commission said that every device that works or will work on the network after the date of 3/18/2021 will be granted a work permit for one month on the Syrian network.
The authority also confirmed that the procedure for identifying travelers with their mobile devices through border posts has been canceled and they will automatically be granted a month’s permit to work on the Syrian network as of the date of their entry into Syria.
The authority concluded its statement by calling on all subscribers wishing to declare their devices “not to be drawn into rumors or any other sources of information and to obtain the permission fee from the messages that will reach them to their cell lines bearing the name and logo of the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (Sytra) as the only reference for knowing the permit fee and in the event of a complaint. Submit it to cellular companies for the authority to process, or submit a complaint to the authority directly on its website.
It is noteworthy that the fees for declaring cellular devices, or the so-called “customs”, had raised many criticisms due to their high prices, which often amounted to nearly half the price of purchasing a new cellular device.
