The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources revealed that an agreement had been reached on holding an Iraqi-Syrian-Turkish meeting to discuss water releases.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ali Radi, told the Iraqi News Agency “w a a”, yesterday, that “the discussions and technical meetings with the Turkish and Syrian sides are continuing within the framework of securing water releases to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.”
He explained: “There are a number of technical and virtual meetings to reach the main points to discuss water scarcity, and the last meeting with the Syrian side included an agreement to hold a tripartite meeting between Iraq, Syria and Turkey.”
Radi indicated that “conversations are ongoing with the Iranian side to discuss water releases and shared rivers,” adding: “It was supposed that there would be a visit to meet the Iranian side, but it coincided with the Iranian elections.”
