The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria confirms that there is no penalty for possessing the dollar and promises to issue new decisions soon

The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Muhammad Essam Hazemeh, revealed today, during his meeting with traders and industrialists at the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, that there are decisions that will be issued soon, which will collectively form a banking environment that will help finance imports and the export process easily and safely in conjunction with the electronic payment project, which will happen soon and is in its experimental phase. Once again, emphasizing that $500,000 will be allowed in at the border crossings.
Hezema indicated during the meeting, whose main objective was to discuss resolutions 1070 and 1071, that the two resolutions worked to add additional sources of financing imports, which are the exchange companies that are under immediate follow-up and fully comply with the texts regulating the issue of foreign exchange.
Hazemeh pointed out that the bank had issued executive instructions for dealing with foreign exchange stating that no person will be held accountable for the possession of foreign currency, indicating that there is no complete or free decision from observations and that the goal of this meeting is to listen to opinions, observations and special problems to address them with the possibility of discussing decisions and issuing The necessary clarification and generalization.
In turn, the head of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Muhammad Abu Al-Huda Al-Lahham, had called on the attendees to raise all the related problematic issues, indicating that the meeting’s goal is dialogue in the hope of clarifying some aspects that need clarification or correction.
