Opposition media websites said that drivers of civilian cars and trucks avoid passing through Abyad-Abyad road that connects the governorates of Raqqa and Hasaka, which extends for more than 100 km, because of the theft, robbery and assassinations witnessed by unknown groups, in the absence of police points. The (Abyad-Abyad) road extends from the town of Al-Karamah, east of Raqqa, to the southwestern entrance to Al-Hasakah, with a length of 155 km.
An opposition website quoted Haval Rizan, one of the patrol officials of the Kurdish “Asayish” in the eastern countryside of Raqqa, “that cars of all kinds are forced after four in the afternoon until the next morning to avoid crossing this road because of the drivers’ fear of thefts and assassinations that are being carried out by It has unknown groups, as drivers of these cars are forced to pass through Al-Raqqa, Deir Ezzor, Al-Hasakah road, despite its long distance, as many military checkpoints are deployed on it and protect it.”
He added, “As for fuel, grain and fodder trucks, they take the “M4” road, accompanied by vehicles belonging to the Russian Military Police, who are protecting and escorting them.”

He added, “During our passage from this road, we do not find any security or military point or even a patrol to protect the road, and this encourages gangs to spread out on it during the evening hours,” stressing that “SDF patrols are afraid to pass through it at night.”

For his part, the owner of a number of trucks transporting fodder and livestock between Al-Raqqa and Al-Hasakah stated, “My three trucks were robbed on the (Abyad-Abyad) road last summer and one of the drivers was also wounded by gangs’ bullets. The Syrian Democratic Forces have no control over this road and they are completely unable to protect it. .
Now trucks are sent on the “M4” to follow Russian Military Police vehicles.
Note that the (Abyad-Abyad) road is much shorter, but we are looking for safety for our convoys.”
