The Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement today, Friday, that China detected the first case of highly pathogenic bird flu this year.
China reported its first infection this year with highly pathogenic bird flu, after an outbreak of bird flu virus among wild birds in northwest China’s Qinghai Province.

The statement added that the local authorities executed and disposed of 273 infected birds, and no infection was detected in poultry.
Despite the infection, global health authorities consider the risk to the general public to be low because the spread of the virus between people requires close contact with an infected bird.

The World Organization for Animal Health announced the discovery of 6 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in Guinea.
The organization, quoting health authorities, said that the outbreaks are the first in the country, and most of them have been identified in laying hen farms.
