Damascus attacks Erdogan’s “policies” that threaten peace and security, and vows to repel Turkish aggression

The Syrian Foreign Ministry directed strong criticism of policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stressing that it reserves its absolute right to defend its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and its determination to repel the Turkish aggression.
An official source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry, according to a statement published today, Saturday, on the ministry’s channel in the “Telegram” application, expressed Damascus’ condemnation in the strongest terms of the decision issued two days ago by the Turkish Parliament regarding the renewal of the authorization granted to Erdogan to send military forces to Iraq and Syria for an additional two years.
“The policies of the President of the Turkish regime have become a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world, as he continues to launch military attacks on Syrian territory and violate Security Council resolutions related to the situation in Syria,” the source said.
The source held the UN Security Council responsible for “inaction in the face of the Turkish occupation of Syrian lands,” warning that this would make Ankara “continue in its crimes and aggressions, imposing de-facto policies, demographic change, Turkification and perpetuating the reality of the occupation in those areas.”
The source accused Turkey of “obstructing the prospects for a political solution” in Syria, cutting off the waters of the Euphrates River from civilians in its north, supporting armed groups designated by the Security Council as terrorist organizations in and around Idlib governorate, and exploiting the Syrian refugee file as a “blackmail and pressure card on the international community,” in addition to To send terrorists and mercenaries to Syria and other hotbeds of conflict in different regions of the world.
“The Syrian Arab Republic affirms that the regional and international situation can no longer tolerate the Turkish regime’s practices that threaten international peace and security, which imposes on the Security Council a direct responsibility in exercising its mandates and powers, by condemning all aggressive practices of the Turkish regime against the sovereignty, independence, integrity and territorial integrity of the country,” he added. The Syrian Arab Republic, and its demand for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of its occupying military forces from the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
He stressed that Syria “reserves its absolute right, based on the Charter and international law, to defend its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and to take all practical and legal measures guaranteed by international legitimacy, in order to repel the Turkish aggression and liberate all of Syrian territory.”
These statements come against the backdrop of Ankara’s announcement of its intention to launch a new aggression against areas in northern Syria, and its preparations for that with meetings with its armed factions to coordinate and develop plans for the upcoming aggression.
