Damascus Governorate helps the countryside with its buses and minibus vehicles: it is waiting for “support” from internal transportation

A member of the Damascus Provincial Council for the Transport and Communications Sector, Mazen Dabbas, said that the number of buses operating in Damascus is sufficient, and there is no justification for overcrowding, but, according to him, the problem lies in rural transport lines, especially during peak times.
In a special statement to “Hashtag”, Dabbas indicated that the Traffic Committee in the Damascus Governorate is working to withdraw a number of buses and buses operating in Damascus to secure citizens in the Damascus countryside, both near and far.

Dabbas also pointed out that the governorate contracted with a private company to service some transportation lines in the countryside, noting that this old company had been working, but it had been stopped since 2014 due to problems with the owners of the company, which has currently equipped about 30 buses and has been allocated through the Western Line Traffic Committee. For the city of Damascus, which runs from the President Bridge to Qudsaya and its suburbs, 12 have been operated on the President Bridge – Qudsaya line, and other buses will operate to Qudsaya suburb and Al-Dimas residences during the next few days.
Regarding the latest solutions that the governorates of Damascus and its countryside are waiting for “to resolve the never-ending transportation crisis,” Dabbas said, attention is currently on the modern internal transport buses that were announced by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, some time ago; It is possible for these buses to solve a major crisis after opening new lines to the most crowded or least numbered areas by public transportation.
Dabbas explained that as a result of the crisis that the country has experienced, the number of public company buses for internal transport decreased from 600 to 110 buses serving Damascus and its countryside, which led to an increase in the burden and pressure on the rest of public transportation.
