Damascus merchants demand trading in profitable state property at very low prices

At a time when merchants sell their goods at incredibly high profits, Damascus merchants are demanding the exploitation of the land (profitable) state property at a nominal rent.
According to a post on the Facebook page of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, the Damascus Chamber of Commerce has formed a new committee, the Renewable Energy Committee, from among the committees of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce. This committee was considered a technical trade committee.
The committee met yesterday, and it was stated on the chamber’s page that the importance of this committee lies in participation and the existence of a future vision towards development. Some proposals were discussed and presented:
Exploitation of lands as state property (profitable) at a nominal rent, similar to agricultural lands.
Monitoring the quality of solar panels and their accessories at the Energy Research Center upon customs clearance.
Motivating banks to finance renewable energy projects.
Abolition of customs duties for energy-saving electrical appliances and tools.
Establishing a joint stock company for renewable energies so that the investment law protects it, and it starts from the Damascus Chamber of Commerce in order to license workshops for the manufacture of profitable turbine towers and solar panel bases.
Establishing the National Green Fund that saves carbon.
At the end of the meeting, they pointed out the importance of governmental support for the renewable energies committee, that the application be implemented in a practical way, and that all problems be solved through the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the ministries and concerned authorities.
It is worth noting that the Renewable Energies Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Mr. Mansour Abaza (Chairman of the Trade Committee).
And Dr. Sadiq Al-Gohari (Chairman of the Renewable Energy Committee) and each of Messrs. Rakad Hamidi, Engineer Majed Sharaf, Engineer Abdul Rahman Sukkar, Muhammad Qassem Hafez, Abdul Jakim Darwish, Fadi Antouz, Engineer Hiyam Al-Imam, and the presence of Dr. Yasser Akrim, member of the Board of Directors of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce.
