Assistant Minister of Communications and Technology Dr. Mazen Al-Mahairi confirmed that the electronic signature project implemented by the Network Services Authority in cooperation with the Russian side will be received and put into service at the beginning of next year.
In a statement to Al-Watan, Al-Mahairi pointed out that an agreement was reached with the Russian delegation to find a corridor through Russia to reach the World Post Corporation, and a corridor to deliver parcels to all countries of the world through the Russian Post Corporation. Al-Mahairi indicated that the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Planning allocated in the 2022 budget an amount of 2 billion Syrian pounds to implement two projects for the ministry in the field of electronic transformation, namely the government procurement system and the cloud computing infrastructure project, pointing out that the two projects are out of 12 projects approved for electronic transformation, and they will be implemented. Their implementation is under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications, which is responsible for securing the infrastructure for these projects.
Al-Mahairi indicated that we discussed with the Russian side the possibility of obtaining technologies that serve cellular communications companies, and through which provide coverage in mountainous and desert areas, and we received a promise to obtain these technologies. The Russian side has and how to benefit from it.
We also presented to the Russian delegation Syria’s need and work requirements for the transition of electronic transformation projects, and we were briefed on the capabilities available to the Russian side and how to benefit from them.
Al-Mahairi emphasized solving the existing financial entanglements between telecommunications companies and the Russian side, the possibility of benefiting from Russian technologies in the field of e-learning, and reaching several points that were agreed upon.
