EU blacklists 6 senior Syrian officers

Today, Thursday, the European Union announced the inclusion of six senior Syrian military personnel and a special Syrian military entity in the blacklist.

The Council of the European Union claimed in a statement that the Syrian company (the private military entity) was involved in recruiting volunteers to participate in the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, according to TASS.

In light of the seriousness of the situation, the council decided to blacklist six Syrian military personnel and one organization involved in recruiting mercenaries to fight alongside the Russian army.

Security company rating

According to EU Council documents, the blacklist includes the Syrian private security company, which was established in 2017, to protect phosphate, gas and oil extraction sites.
The document claims that that private company is involved in recruiting Syrian mercenaries to fight in Libya and Ukraine, while the company’s head has been blacklisted.
