Members of the Bcharre municipality in Lebanon stormed the home of a displaced Syrian family and severely beat them using “sticks and knives”. Two members of the family were taken to hospital.
A member of the assaulted Syrian family stated that the mayor and members of the municipal police, along with a number of young people from the neighborhood where the family lived, raided the house and attacked the displaced Syrian family from the village of Kafr Tarma in Idlib countryside.
The members of the municipality raided their house and beat the women of the family, while they beat the young men and children of the family with an “axe”, which caused one of them to lose his right eye.
And he indicated that the reason is due to “they raised the rent of the house in which the family lives, under the pretext of the increase in the price of the dollar against the Lebanese pound,” noting that they used to frequent him every ten days to increase the house rent again, while the daily worker in Lebanon does not exceed 40,000 pounds. . It is not enough to pay his daily food.
This incident comes as part of a series of attacks against Syrian refugees in Lebanon, from being expelled, chased, and dismissed from work, to being killed, threatened, or physically harmed by beating to prevent them from working in Lebanon.
The incidents of racist attacks in Lebanon are still ravaging Syrian refugees, at a time when events in Lebanon are getting worse due to the deterioration of living conditions and the devaluation of the currency. The city of Bcharre previously witnessed attacks by Lebanese against Syrians in November of last year, under the pretext of “their lack of desire to pay more taxes.”
