Forensic medicine “aspires” to get a thousand pounds for inspection and “prepares” to reveal mass graves in the northeast of the country

The Director-General of the General Authority for Forensic Medicine, Dr. Zaher Hajjo, revealed that the workshop that will be held today is the first of its kind to advance the work of forensic medicine and its relationship with the judiciary to the highest levels, given that the forensic doctor is part of the medical and judicial family at the same time, in the presence of a number of lawyers and judges.
In a statement to Al-Watan, Hajjo explained that many important topics will be presented, including the new forensic report that will be approved at the beginning of next year, indicating that the format of the new report will be modern and contain clear information in addition to the ease of automation on the authority’s computer to facilitate monitoring of work. Hajjo indicated that the aim of the new report is to be scientific, to include accurate information after conducting a careful and administrative examination, in order to reduce medical errors that were occurring.
He pointed out that the issue of medical expertise will be discussed in addition to the file of deaths, expressing his hope that the authority will take over the issue of examining all deaths at least as a first stage in hospitals, considering that the forensic doctor is the most able to determine the cause, time of death and the forensic medical form of it and to avoid some cases of extraction The body after burial as a result of the lack of examination by some doctors of other specialties. In addition to establishing a database of deaths affiliated to the Ministry of Health through the General Authority for Forensic Medicine, and the possibility of conducting preventive studies on the causes of death and ways to prevent them.
Hajjo confirmed that the commission promised that the value of exposing the bodies would be raised, noting that the forensic doctor charges 250 pounds for each body he examines, and this number is currently illogical under the current circumstances, considering that raising the value to a thousand pounds or more is a logical number during the current circumstances. experienced by the coroner.
Hajjo indicated that the issue of standardizing the criteria for disability rates, recovery and unemployment in Syria will be discussed with the judges present at the workshop, stressing that the commission has prepared a special schedule that took more than five months to work on, and that it will be presented to the judges for their comments on it until it is applied at the beginning of next year.
He pointed out that the judges’ comments on the performance of forensic medicine during the last period will be discussed, in addition to discussing the forensic dentistry work protocol.
He pointed out that the identification file will have an important aspect of the workshop, and there will be lectures on the method of identification, both on corpses and skeletal remains, noting that the Commission has the human capabilities qualified for this file, adding: “We prepare ourselves after the Syrian army liberates the rest of the areas in the northeast Syria to uncover mass graves resulting from the massacres committed by the militants in those areas.
