The Lebanese authorities arrested a Saudi carrying 18 kg of Captagon at Beirut airport.
According to the Lebanese newspaper, Al-Akhbar, the accused, A. Al-Shammari, dealt with the matter “comfortably”, as the 18 kilograms of Captagon pills that were in his bags were not professionally packed, but were placed in bags between the clothes, and the security forces noticed the presence of the bags as soon as the bags were passed via the scanner. After contacting the Public Prosecutor of Cassation, Ghassan Oweidat, he signaled the arrest of the suspect, who was found in possession of a Kuwaiti police affiliation card.

After news spread that the accused is affiliated with the Saudi security, the media office of the Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, quickly issued a statement denying that the arrestee was a Saudi security man, noting that through preliminary investigations, “it was found that the Saudi national is residing in Kuwait and in possession of papers.” Kuwaiti security. He pointed out that Mawlawi communicated with the competent Kuwaiti authorities in the context of coordinating and continuing the investigations.

After Al-Shammari was transferred to the Central Narcotics Control Office, and during his interrogation, he denied knowing how the narcotic pills got into his bag. He said that one of his friends outside Lebanon asked him to bring a bag from the house of his Iraqi friend, Lara, who lives in the Adonis locality in Jounieh.

The judiciary gave a signal to stop the Iraqi woman in her apartment, where she lives with her children. Her brother and a Jordanian woman who was with them in the apartment was arrested with her, in order to resume the investigation with all the detainees to find out the source of the narcotic pills. While the Saudi detainee was leaving for Kuwait, it was not yet known whether his final destination was Kuwait or Saudi Arabia, pointing out that Captagon seizures had become a regular occurrence in Saudi Arabia, which has become a profitable market for drug dealers due to the great demand for it.
