“Hmeimim” celebrates Easter: Russian bells were heard in the sky of Syria

Hmeimim

Russian soldiers at the Hmeimim military base on the Syrian coast celebrated Easter at the Temple of Elijah the Prophet inside the base, according to Russian media reported today, Sunday.
The Russian “Zverda” website said that “Syria has become the southernmost point where the Russian army celebrates Easter,” adding that “the sounds of Russian bells can be heard in the sky of Syria.”
“Although the Russian warriors are far away, they feel at home,” the website added.
The site indicated that “the religious procession at the Hmeimim base marks the beginning of everyone’s favorite holiday.”

The site added, “The temple of Elijah the Prophet in the military base is small but very warm, it is full of people and everyone serves here, and as midnight approached, everyone was eager to reach the temple to pray and say the important words to all Orthodox Christians: (Christ is Risen! – Truly Risen!”) “.
“The service was run by Father Nikolai, a priest from Yekaterinburg. For him, this is the first Easter holiday outside of Russia, where the priest offers Easter eggs and cakes, which were prepared in advance by the chefs and bakers inside the base.”
The site indicated that in addition to engraving the words (Christ is risen) on the cake and Easter eggs, the symbol “Z” was also engraved as a kind of support for the participants in the military operation in Ukraine.
