In just four months.. 14 new tourist facilities in Dubai

Dubai witnessed the opening of 14 new hotel facilities during the first four months of 2022, bringing the number of hotel establishments in the emirate from 755 to 769, according to the emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
Over the past years, Dubai was able to build an integrated hotel sector that meets the needs of various segments of international and local tourists, from luxurious 5-star hotels to medium and economic hotel establishments.

Strong growth.. historically

Historically, the hotel sector in Dubai recorded a strong growth in the number of available rooms, as it jumped by 65% ​​from 2013 to April 2022, which is equivalent to 55,000 hotel rooms that entered the market in nearly 8 and a half years.
Data from the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai showed that the number of hotel establishments in Dubai increased by 14 new establishments to reach 769 establishments at the end of April 2022, compared to 755 hotel establishments at the end of December 2021.


5 luxury hotels


According to the data, the new hotel establishments that entered the Dubai market since the beginning of this year were distributed between 3 five-star hotels and two four-star hotels.
The largest increase was within the economic and medium-level hotel establishments, from one to three star categories, with 7 facilities, and the city witnessed the opening of two facilities for medium-level hotel apartments.

Increasing carrying capacity

The data showed that the hotel sector in Dubai recorded a growth in absorptive capacity within 4 months by about 2386 hotel rooms.
The capacity reached 140,336 hotel rooms and apartments by the end of April, compared to 137,750 hotel rooms and apartments by the end of December 2021.

6.2% sector growth in two years

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai had expected that the capacity of Dubai hotels would increase by the equivalent of 8,500 new hotel rooms until 2023.
According to the annual report, the market is expected to grow by 6.2% within two years.
The Department of Economy added that 4-star hotel rooms are expected to register an annual growth rate of 4%, starting from 2021 to 2023.
Hotel apartments are also expected to register a growth of 12% during the same comparison period, compared to growth levels of only 2% for luxury five-star hotel projects.
