The head of the Farmers’ Union in Syria, Ahmed Saleh, expected in a special statement to “hashtag” that Syria’s production of wheat during the current season would reach about 1.2 million tons, in safe areas.
Saleh denied all what is being circulated that there is a significant decrease in production quantities of wheat during the current season, stressing that the current year’s production of wheat is better than the production of last year’s season, which was only 400 thousand tons.
Saleh pointed out that 47 centers were equipped in all governorates to receive wheat from farmers, and indicated that all facilities are secured for farmers to receive the crop from them, and that the prices of wheat are available and will be given to farmers within a week, pointing out that the bags that will be distributed to farmers and control of scales have been prepared, in addition. To train cadres on marketing operations.
He added that it was directed to secure the fuel oil needed for machinery, combines, tractors and vehicles for transporting the wheat season, and that the Ministry of Transport allowed the machinery transporting wheat and flour to increase 25% of its real tonnage allowed within the specified axes of the mechanism during the season period only, in order to save fuel and for the speed of transportation of the crop.
Saleh noted that the seed will be secured for farmers, and that 50,000 tons of wheat will be secured for bulgur, and it will be at the subsidized price, thus eliminating the monopoly of bulgur in the open market, which sells the material at high prices.
