Ninth parliamentary session for the election of the President of Lebanon: a repeated scene with a white paper

Media expected that today’s ninth parliamentary session for the election of a President of the Republic would not make progress.

The media said that “the white paper remains a thread that unites the allies despite the disagreement, and despite talking about surprises,” according to parliamentary sources in the voting blocks of the white paper.

Regarding the possibility of surprises in the next session, the sources say that the possibility of today’s session being the last session of the year is possible as long as the next date is supposed to be the middle of this month before Christmas, where many deputies travel abroad before the holidays.

The building newspaper learned that the strong Lebanese bloc will not boycott today’s election session, but will attend it, but will vote on the white paper pending the resolution of the bloc for its candidate, which may appear at the first session next year. However, the outcome of today’s meeting will not contradict the outcome of its previous attendance, voting and counting of candidates.

Knowledgeable sources confirmed to Nidaa al-Watan that “the likelihood is that the strong vote of the Lebanese parliamentarians will continue with the white paper in today’s session.”

As for the sources of Al- Lewaa newspaper,  revealed that the Free Patriotic Movement has chosen a specific name, which will be voted for today, instead of voting on the white paper, and some said that the name of lawyer Naji al-Bustani was the one chosen.

Political sources told  Al- Lewaa newspaper that there is no change in the election of the President of the Republic today in terms of keeping parliamentary alignments  intact and divisions between the blocs, while the white paper remains the choice of the deputies of the Amal movement and Hezbollah.

The Free Patriotic Movement will not be far from the option of not voting or recording absences, although it does not want to be called the Disabled.

While it is rumored that it may voted for a particular name, the opposition vote for MP Michel Moawad continues.

The sources asked whether Thursday’s meeting was the last one before the holidays or not, noting that there were expectations of high absenteeism.
