The pace of civil protests is escalating in the areas controlled by the “Syrian Democratic Forces – (SDF) against the kidnappings and recruitment of teenage girls into the ranks of the organization and its military groups.”
Residents of the city of Qamishli in the Hasaka countryside organized a protest sit-in to demand their minor sons who were recruited by the “Revolutionary Youth” organization, one of the military groups affiliated with the “Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).”
The families of the minors stood in front of the United Nations headquarters in the city of Qamishli, calling on the United Nations, international organizations and the Syrian Democratic Forces to return their children. According to local media pages on Facebook.
During the vigil, the families raised pictures of their children kidnapped by the “Revolutionary Youth” organization, and banners calling for their return.
A mother participating in the protest said that she “participated in this vigil to demand the return of her daughter, who was kidnapped about two years ago.”
She added: “My daughter was invited to join a nursing course, and after 15 days a woman called (Manal) called my daughter and asked her to come at night, claiming that there was an important work, and hours after she went, she did not return, and we tried to contact her, but her phone was out of coverage, Then she found out that Manal had kidnapped our daughter in association with a person named (Hawker).”
She confirmed that they reviewed all the “Self-Administration” institutions, including the “Childhood Protection Office” and the “Asayish” forces, but they did not return their daughter to them.
This vigil comes days after the “Revolutionary Youth” kidnapped and recruited three underage girls from the city of Amuda in the Hasaka countryside.
Yesterday, Saturday, women demonstrated in the city of Amuda in the Hasaka countryside to demand the return of their minor daughters from the military centers of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF), after they had been recruited while they were minors.
In early July of 2019, the United Nations announced that it had signed an action plan with the SDF to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18. The plan also includes “the demobilization and separation of minors currently recruited from the SDF.”
However, the “SDF” and its components continued to recruit minors and kidnap children, as the General Inspection Department of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated, in early August 2020, that “the SDF continues to recruit children in Syria through kidnapping them.”
