Returning to the previous era of transit relations between Syria and Jordan: an agreement to facilitate the transit of transit trucks and passengers

Syrian Interior Minister Muhammad al-Rahmoun and his Jordanian counterpart Mazen al-Faraya agreed, during a phone call between them yesterday, to joint coordination in order to facilitate the transit of transit trucks and passenger buses between Syria and Jordan.
Al-Watan newspaper quoted a source in the “Ministry of Interior”, that Syrian trucks and refrigerator trucks will be allowed to enter Jordanian territory and go directly to the Gulf countries without the need to exchange with Jordanian cars that were transporting them to those countries without allowing Syrian cars to do so.
The source said that the Jordanian authorities would allow Syrian public cars to enter the Jordanian territories as well, in order to facilitate the movement of passengers between the two countries, as well as allowing Jordanian public cars to enter the Syrian territories without there being an exchange. And that the Syrian passengers will no longer have to disembark and ride in other cars before they enter Jordanian territory, as is the case with Jordanians.
The source added that there is nothing new about the application of the health procedures for Corona, which is that the traveler must have obtained a “PCR” test or a certificate proving that he has obtained the Corona vaccine.
The source indicated that these measures will contribute to increasing the movement on the borders between the two countries and greatly facilitate travelers between the two countries, pointing out that the borders will not be completely open, given that there are health measures related to Corona and these procedures are applied in all countries of the world.
This agreement between the two ministers comes days after Jordanian King Abdullah II visited Washington and offered US President Joe Biden to join a working group seeking to agree on a road map for a solution in Syria, according to the American newspaper, “Washington Post”.
The Jordanian Ammon Agency had quoted diplomatic sources as saying that King Abdullah would present an initiative to Biden on Syria, including easing or lifting the sanctions imposed on Damascus under Caesar’s Law, and not opposing its return to the Arab League Council.
The sources confirmed to Ammon News Agency that there is a deep Jordanian-Russian coordination regarding the Syrian file, on the American-Syrian categorization and the Caesar Act.
