The Director of School Health at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Hatoon Al-Tawashi, said that the number of corona injuries among students and teachers this week has witnessed a noticeable decrease; In the past week, 221 new infections were recorded.
In exclusive statements to “Hashtag”, Al-Tawashi confirmed that the total number of positive smears since the beginning of the year reached 1961 among students and teachers, including 296 among students, and 1,664 among teachers and administrative staff.
As for the deaths, Al-Tawashi said that the number of deaths since the beginning of the current school year has reached 10, all of them teachers and administrators who were not vaccinated against the virus.
Al-Tawashi indicated that the demand for the vaccine is still weak, as the number still does not exceed 12,000 teachers, teachers and administrators out of the 450 thousand educational cadres in the country.
For this, the Director of School Health said that the Ministry of Education in all governorates, in cooperation with the International Committee of the International Red Cross, has begun working to spread health awareness, by developing a plan to qualify a group of health educational teams to play an awareness role to confront a number of diseases that can mix between students. And through them to the civil society or vice versa.
Al-Tawashi indicated that the ministry aims, through this project, to spread and deepen health awareness on the one hand, and to monitor and treat some infectious diseases before they spread widely, on the other hand.
She pointed out that these teams, in cooperation with the teams of the health directorates in the governorates, will treat all cases proven to be infected with any of these diseases, and these medical teams can enter the civil society if necessary.
Al-Tawashi added that until now, schools have not been completely closed as a result of the emergence of cases, but classrooms have been closed in some governorates because of corona injuries, adding that the cases among students are mild and do not need a hospital, and the injuries among teachers are stronger, so some cases required hospitalization.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health recorded 188 new infections with the Corona virus, bringing the total number to 45,284, and the recovery of 96 of the registered cases, bringing the total number to 27,122, and the death of 10 of the recorded infections, bringing the total number to 2,630.
