“SDF” arrests leaders of Al-Hasakah branch of the “Baath Party”

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested four members of the leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party branch in the city of Al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria.
The local “Al-Khabour” page mentioned the names of the detainees, and said that the arrest took place at the Tabqa checkpoint, west of Raqqa.
The Secretary of the Al-Hasakah branch of the party, Turki Aziz Hassan, confirmed to Al-Watan newspaper the arrest of the four leaders in the branch leadership, in addition to two drivers:
The head of the Organization Office, Fawaz al-Ali, (who was previously detained for hours last year), the head of the Youth and Sports Bureau, Abdullah Khalil, the head of the Farmers’ Bureau, Hamid al-Johar, and the head of the workers’ office, Ahmed al-Salal, in addition to civilian drivers.
Hassan explained that the “SDF” has been arresting them for 3 days, and pointed out that the arrest took place on Friday, and the leaders were “on their way to Damascus”, and indicated that there were “resolute efforts to release them, but the militias are procrastinating in that.”
While “Sham FM” radio reported via “Telegram”, the Governor of Hasaka, Ghassan Khalil, said that “SDF detained 7 people, including four members of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party branch in al-Hasakah, while they were passing through a checkpoint in the city of Tabqa in the countryside of Raqqa.”
He added that the detention took place three days ago while they were on their way to Damascus, to participate in the National Progressive Front conference, which begins tomorrow.
It is noteworthy that it is not the first time that the “SDF” has kidnapped local officials in al-Hasakah, which controls large parts of it. The head of the organization’s office, Fawaz al-Ali, was kidnapped for five days last May, and his detention came a day after the detention of the party’s branch secretary, in addition to a number of others. Members of his command, including the Secretary of the Qamishli Rural Division, were in the city for hours, and were on their way to Damascus via Qamishli Airport.
