Seizure of a drug shipment in Syria intended for smuggling to Jordan and the Gulf States

Media reports from Syria reported that, on Saturday, a drug shipment was seized, which was equipped for smuggling to Jordan and the Gulf countries.

Some 70,000 Captagon pills, which were equipped for smuggling to neighboring countries such as Jordan and the Gulf States, were thwarted according to the “Baladi News” website, which reported the news from local sources.

The entire quantity was destroyed in the presence of international coalition commanders based at the Al-Tanf base and commanders from armed factions supported by coalition forces.

This shipment is the third of its kind for drug traffickers, within the framework of Syria’s desire to confront the smuggling of these harmful substances, and the beating with an iron hand of anyone who deals with these substances or trades them.

Last 22 November, Jordanian Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle 237,000 pills, 42 kilograms of narcotic drugs, from Syrian territory.

This quantity was hidden in a cavity in the body of a refrigerator truck loaded with fruit, coming from one of the neighbouring countries, without being named, according to the Jordanian Anbar Agency “Petra”.

While the spokesman for the Jordanian Customs Department revealed that the source of this quantity is Syria, when he pointed out that it was seized by the cadres of the customs center “Naseeb – Jaber” border.

On 28 October, the Jordanian authorities thwarted an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large quantities of narcotic substances from Syrian territory.

At that time, 287 puffs of hashish were seized, and 259120 Captagon tablets were transferred to the competent Jordanian authorities.
