The Council of Ministers discussed in today’s session a draft legislative instrument related to the inclusion of retirees in the state, the public sector and popular organizations, including civilians and military personnel, with health insurance at the Syrian General Insurance Corporation.
A private source in the Insurance Corporation stated to “Hashtag” that the project of subjecting these segments to health insurance dates back to 2007 during the period of former Minister Muhammad Al-Hussein’s presence in the Ministry of Finance, but the matter was not followed up.
The source indicated that this issue is now receiving great attention from the current minister, and that the Syrian Insurance will bear the insurance costs, and a small part will be borne by the retirees.
The source added that the diseases that retirees are exposed to are great, so the health insurance companies were refusing to include them in the guarantee except for high insurance premiums.
