The last of this summer.. A severe heat wave will hit Syria starting next Friday

Weather forecaster “Shadi Gawish” expected the country to be affected by a severe heat wave next week, while estimating that it would be the last in terms of its intensity.
“The temperature will remain around its average until Tuesday, and it will rise on Wednesday and Thursday by one or two degrees, and the heat wave will start from Friday,” Gawish said.
“The heat wave will reach its peak on Monday and Tuesday of next week, with an additional 5 degrees higher than the general average, which is estimated at 36 in the interior regions, and 31 in the coastal regions,” he added.
He expected that “the next heat wave will be the last of this summer, as we expect that we will not witness other heat waves in which temperatures will rise by 5 degrees or more, again during the summer of 2021.”
“The humidity is high in the coast, and it contributes to an increase in the perceived temperatures in it. For example, in Damascus, the difference between the perceived and normal temperature is two degrees, while in the coast the difference reaches six degrees, but the humidity contributes relatively to the cooling of the air in the evening hours,” he added.
According to Gawish, the temperature will return to its annual rates starting in late August and early September, in contrast to the beginning of last September, when the temperature was significantly higher for a long time than its rates.
Gawish considered that, “All that was written about early winter and a significant drop in temperature during September are just rumours, and the temperature of September is around its annual average, i.e. about 33 degrees Celsius indoors.”
“The winds are currently light, and are active in the afternoon hours until the evening, and the wind activity last week is due to a cold upper basin that passed over the country, and contributed to rainfall,” he continued.
At the conclusion of his forecast, Gawish said: “The sea is light in height, and the surface temperature is between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, while the winds in the coast are southwesterly and the rest of the northwest regions.”
