With the decline in the level of the Euphrates River resulting from the Turkish side reducing the imports of the Euphrates River, the Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Eng. Tammam Raad, along with a number of experts and technicians, “informed silence” on the third sector of the lower Euphrates basin in the city of Deir ez-Zor to find out the reality of irrigation in the region and Examination of the pumping station and the supply channel in particular, as well as the work of cleaning the river in the city of Deir ez-Zor carried out by the Ministry.
The visit was limited to a Facebook post consisting of two lines and two pictures, suggesting to whom it may concern that this official was here without further explanations about the reality of the river and what awaits the people and agricultural lands, and without any positions towards Turkey, which has reduced imports.
The Turkish side believes that the use of water should be directed to the fertile agricultural lands, and these lands exist in Turkey and can produce more than one season per year, unlike the agricultural lands in Syria and Iraq from the principle of directing water to production.
The drop in the river level was reflected in the work of drinking water and irrigation water stations, as well as the work of the floating crossing, which facilitates the movement of citizens residing in villages and towns located in the northern countryside of the governorate.
Despite all this, it seems that the Euphrates River issue has become outside the media circulation for unknown reasons, to the extent that the Minister of Irrigation, one of the most prominent officials in charge of this file, inspected the bitter reality left by Turkey’s imprisonment of the river’s water, and saw firsthand the catastrophic effects on the region and its inhabitants, Without saying a word!
