A new economic report revealed that obtaining 2,400 calories per day needed to live in a balanced manner, distributed over 3 meals, requires about 4,213 SP per day per person, based on the figures put forward by the report, which assumed eating certain somewhat cheap types of food to obtain good nutritional value.

Regarding lunch, an individual can achieve the recognized nutritional value by eating 800 calories per day, at a cost of 2,066 pounds per person per day, and about 310,000 pounds per family per month, distributed as follows:

The report pointed out that most Syrians do not monitor the nutritional values ​​they receive daily, and rely on their financial means to purchase, and do not buy chicken and eggs daily, but they are shortened on a weekly or monthly basis, and some of them dispense with them completely.
The report noted that some families had to shorten dinner by delaying lunch, while others depend on one meal per day, while other families depend on cooking repetitive dishes such as rice, vegetables, mujadara, potatoes and pasta.
A local newspaper confirmed in July 2021 that the cost of living exceeded one million pounds per month during the first quarter of 2021, while the minimum salary and wages became 72 thousand pounds after the recent increase, meaning that it covers only about 7% of those costs.
