The Syrian national team apologizes for not attending a friendly match with Oman

Press sources revealed that the technical staff of the Syrian national team, led by Nizar Al-Mahrous, apologized for facing Oman in a friendly in Muscat, on the fifth of next month.
A source in the technical staff said: “The timing of the match is not suitable for Nassour Qasioun.”
He added, “Most of the players are professionals and will not commit to training for the seventh of next month, in preparation for the confrontations with Iraq and Iran, in the framework of the third round qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup.”
And he continued, “Mahros informed the former federation, headed by Hatem Al-Ghayeb, that it was not possible to play the match with local players, because the required benefit was not achieved, and the Omani federation was notified at the time.”
It is expected that the Syrian team will enter a closed camp in Damascus, before traveling to be a guest of Iraq, and from there to Jordan to host its Iranian counterpart, with the ambition of overturning expectations and reconciling its supporters after disappointing results in the first 4 rounds of the decisive round.
The Syrian team started by defeating Iran with a clean goal, and then drawing 1-1 with the Emirates, before returning and losing against South Korea and Lebanon, to be in the last place in the group with a single point.
