Thousands of greenhouses have been damaged by strong winds

The number of houses damaged by the strong winds that hit the country yesterday reached 4,500 greenhouses in Tartous, belonging to 1480 farmers.
Head of the Department of Drought and Natural Disasters Mitigation Fund in the Tartous Agriculture Directorate Haidar Shaheen added to “Sham FM” that there are 14,000 missing nylon strips that have become damaged and unusable.
And that the process of inventory damage is still going on. There are many affected areas in Baniyas, Akkar and Mayar Shaker, in addition to separate areas of Safita.
And the agricultural crops most affected are delicate crops such as cucumbers, beans and zucchini, followed by eggplants and tomatoes.
Shaheen said that the affected farmers who meet the specified conditions will be compensated for being considered affected.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Agriculture had granted a period of two years to the owners of greenhouses to equip the houses according to specific specifications, in order to reduce the damage caused by environmental factors as winds, which were repeated several times during the last months of this season.
