The Director of Lighting in Damascus Governorate, Engineer Ziad Saada, said that the governorate will start installing solar panels next week to ensure that the electric current reaches the light signals day and night, after implementing the rehabilitation of all sites within the city of Damascus through batteries with new ones and installing solar panels to ensure that the current reaches the light signals. day and night.
In a special statement to “Hashtag”, Saada indicated the readiness of 850 solar lighting devices with poles and bases provided by the Ministry of Local Administration, which will be installed successively, and the work will be completed within two months, but this does not prevent the existence of many obstacles that the governorate is working to overcome, including, according to Saada. The infrastructure needed to install the panels, as well as the old existing columns, has been damaged, and this requires long and difficult work that “will not be done in a day and night.”
Saada pointed out that the start of the installation of the panels will be from the Mazzeh highway, all the way to Mouwasat and Azbakeya, to finish all 50 intersections in the city of Damascus.
There is also a contract with the Syrian Network for networks in the Daraa highway, panels and lighting devices have been installed, and the work to install batteries and transformers will be completed at the beginning of next year, all under the supervision of the Damascus Governorate.
Saada confirmed that with the beginning of next year, all intersections will be filled, especially in the axes of the Tadamon entrance, the camp roundabout, the western Al-Qadam, the Mazzeh Jabal roundabout, the Language Institute Road, and Sheikh Saad at Entrance 86.
The Director of Lighting in the Damascus Governorate added that if the first step is successful with the presence and installation of 850 solar panels, a study will be prepared to contract with private parties in order to complete the step at the beginning of next year.
At this time, Saada said, the governorate is preparing to announce the tender for the traffic lights after allocating the necessary funds for it, and it is possible to contract with the company that obtains the tender after completing the necessary conditions set by the governorate after about two months.
