The trade exchange data between Iran and neighboring countries showed that Syria lags behind in the list of the most exchanged countries, whether in export or import.
The Director of the Iranian Customs Authority, Ali Reza Makdisi, announced that the trade exchange between his country and 15 neighboring countries exceeded 100 million tons, and amounted to about $51.9 billion, in the Iranian fiscal year ending on March 20.
And according to “Fars News Agency”, quoting a statement by Maqdisi, Iran exported about 75.4 million tons, at a value of 26 billion dollars, and imported 24.6 million tons, at a value of 25.8 billion dollars.
Export details:
Iraq came first with 8.9 billion dollars, followed by Turkey with 6.1 billion, the UAE with 4.9 billion, Afghanistan with 1.8 billion, and Pakistan with 1.3 billion dollars.
He pointed out that Oman’s exports amounted to 716 million dollars, Russia 579 million dollars, Azerbaijan 565 million dollars, Turkmenistan 335 million dollars, and Armenia 304 million dollars.
While Iran’s revenues from neighboring countries were as follows: the UAE $16.5 billion, Turkey $5.3 billion, Russia 1.7 billion, Iraq $1.2 billion, and Oman $619 million.
Meanwhile, “Irib News” (Iranian Radio and Television News Agency) reported that the volume of trade exchange (import and export) amounted to 250 million dollars.
The agency stated that the volume of what Iran imported from Syria amounted to more than 295 thousand tons, with a value of about 30 million and 100 thousand dollars.
As for exports to Syria, they amounted to 132,000 tons, with a value of $218 million.
Although trade between Iran and Syria increased by 75 percent, the growth rate of those exchanges is still below expectations, according to the agency, which said that 3 Iranian officials traveled to Syria, in the past five months alone, to “strengthen economic relations.”
The agency said that despite the advantages and agreements, “Iranian businessmen have not yet succeeded in entering the Syrian market.”
