The Syrian Trade Establishments started selling “free” sugar and tea on a monthly basis to each family through the electronic card without registering an application.
Sunday, the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Amr Salem, promised the citizens to add new materials to the smart card, such as sunflower oil, mate and others, without specifying a date for that.
Salem explained, through a post on his official page on “Facebook”, that “today, the sale of sugar was started at the positive intervention price, which is 2,200 Syrian pounds per kilogram and on the smart card and without request or messages, after the monopolists hid sugar from the markets and brought its price to 3000 Pounds,” stressing that they were arrested and referred to the judiciary.
Salem considered that selling sugar in this way will end the crisis of his monopoly and the rise in its price, stressing at the same time that this will not affect the subsidized sugar through letters, “Whoever buys subsidized, his share of the other will not be affected. By selling the subsidized to end the accumulation and default, and it will remain supported.”
The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection confirmed that the smart card tea from the Syrian Trade is guaranteed and can be obtained in the same way as sugar, but most importantly, it was tested by the Minister personally, who confirmed that its quality is excellent.
Salem pointed out that there may be some crowding on the first day of the sugar distribution as a result of the high turnout, as he put it, but he also pointed out that there are large quantities, calling on citizens to submit complaints to the complaints section that has been designated for complaints against the Syrian Trade and will be dealt with immediately.
