Turkey looked forward to the implementation of the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Russia, regarding the organization of “PKK /YPG” in Syria.
This came during political consultations held in Istanbul, between officials from both sides headed by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sadat Onal, and his Russian counterpart Sergei Vershenin, according to the “TRT” channel.
During the talks, the importance of preserving Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity and the need for a political solution to the crisis in the country were emphasized.
The Turkish side again referred to Ankara’s firmness in combating PKK /YPG, considering it an existential threat to the territorial integrity of Syria, and to Turkish national security.
Turkey considered that the extension of the UN mechanism for the cross-border delivery of assistance to Syria plays a crucial role in providing urgent humanitarian assistance to more than 4 million people in need in the country.
Turkish officials considered that it would be useful to continue this mechanism, as they put it.
The two sides also addressed the reform of the United Nations, the implementation of the Istanbul Grains Agreement, the situation in Ukraine and Syria, and the files of Libya, the Middle East and the East of Mediterranean.
Turkey stressed the need to restructure the United Nations and its decision-making machinery, in particular the Security Council, through a more comprehensive, just and effective concept.
The need to return to negotiations to find a just and sustainable solution, in order to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, was emphasized.
