UAE and Iran are at the highest level of rapprochement.. Preparing to raise the level of diplomatic representation

Yesterday, Tuesday, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the importance of raising the level of diplomatic representation between his country and Iran, in a way that enhances the expansion of bilateral relations.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that bin Zayed stressed, in a call with his counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian, that raising the level of diplomatic representation comes within the framework of the importance of expanding relations between the two countries.

“We have no doubts that we can restore the warmth of relations between the two countries, and also open new horizons for relations, especially when we face many challenges in the region” Bin Zayed said.
Bin Zayed added: “Peace, stability, pride and goodness for Iran as a neighbor and brother country are very important, because it has a positive impact on UAE as well, and we hope to take greater steps to develop relations between the two countries.”

Abdullahian’s comment

In this context, the Iranian Foreign Minister wrote in a tweet via “Twitter”: “Today, I discussed with the foreign ministers of Kuwait, Emirates, Qatar and Iraq bilateral relations and issues of the region and the world.”
“We discussed the expansion of cooperation, which is the basis of the neighborhood policy. We will move quickly on the path of cooperation with our neighbors. Foreigners cannot prevent cooperation in the region,” Abdullahian added.

Emirati-Iranian rapprochement

Diplomatic Adviser Anwar Gargash recently confirmed to UAE President that his country is against any military alliance in the region targeting Iran.
Gargash announced that his country is in the process of sending an ambassador to the Iranian capital, Tehran, saying: “Our talks are continuing. We are in the process of sending an ambassador to Tehran. These areas of rebuilding bridges are continuing.”
UAE reduced its diplomatic representation in Iran in 2016, after Iranian groups stormed the Saudi embassy in the capital, Tehran.
UAE has maintained economic relations with Iran, and in recent months has sought to engage in dialogue with Tehran to resolve outstanding issues between the two countries.
Iraqi mediation
Over the past months, Iraq has hosted rounds of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, in order to heal the rift in relations between the two countries.
