UAE leads the world in fiber-optic network penetration

The Global Fiber Optic Home Council report showed the UAE’s continued superiority globally in the percentage of penetration of the fiber optic network connected to the home (FTTH).
And by leading the new year, the UAE continues to lead the world in this field since 2016.

The council published its annual report, which monitors the countries that achieved the highest penetration rate around the world, and showed the UAE’s continued topping the rankings, surpassing Singapore, China, South Korea and Hong Kong.
According to the data monitored by the report, 20 countries achieved an optical fiber penetration rate of more than 50 percent.
UAE ranked first globally with (97%), followed by Singapore (95.8%), China (94.9%), South Korea (91.1%) and Hong Kong (86.2%).
Who is behind the achievement?
The Emirati newspaper Al Bayan said that the Emirates Etisalat network, which is the communications pillar of the &e group (formerly known as Etisalat Group), is the mainstay in achieving this achievement, which is in line with its long-term strategy aimed at enabling and advancing the digital transformation in the country.
Masoud Mohamed Sharif Mahmoud, CEO of Etisalat Emirates, said: “We continue our commitment to work in accordance with the goals of the digital transformation of the UAE, which motivates us to provide the best innovative solutions, harness advanced technologies such as the fifth generation network, and maintain the superiority of the telecommunications infrastructure.”
