The Minister of Agriculture promises farmers: Remunerative prices for wheat, but for the next season

The Minister of Agriculture, Hassan Qatana, stated that the pricing for the purchase of the wheat crop for the next season will be similar to the mechanism in which the cotton crop was priced, which depends on marketing pricing that guarantees a good profit margin for the farmer and guarantees the right of public institutions to obtain production and the absence of the need to secure their needs through import. Marketing pricing is intended to deviate from the previous pricing mechanism that was based on costs + a specific profit margin of 25 percent.
While the focus is in the new pricing mechanism on enabling the farmer to obtain a profitable margin.
Qatna pointed out that agricultural production requirements will be subsidized by 15 percent, of which there will be support for fertilizers by 15 percent compared to the prices of the popular fertilizers in the market, and there will be subsidies for bran and seed up to 25 percent of the cost values.
The minister had confirmed yesterday during the meeting of the advisory body of the Syndicate of Agricultural Engineers that the agricultural sector is the mainstay of the Syrian economy, and the agricultural engineer forms the core of this sector with the farmer, and his real role lies in field work and his effective presence is on the land and in the field with the farmer.
He also stressed that the ministry issued the agricultural production plan for the next season at an early date for safe spaces, and the government will not hesitate to secure production requirements for its implementation, noting that 70,000 tons of wheat seed were secured ready for distribution, and coordination was coordinated with the relevant ministries to secure the diesel needed for cultivation according to a timetable. It is clear and monthly, and the priority is for the agricultural sector, as it will be distributed in two phases, the first for cultivation and agriculture, and the second for the areas irrigated for irrigation.
In addition, 30,000 tons of phosphate fertilizers and 24,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizers have been secured so far, which will be distributed in two batches, where a percentage of them will be allocated to wheat and a percentage to fruit trees, especially citrus and olives, indicating that production requirements will be subsidized by 10-15% of market prices.
