Why Syria refused to supply Jordan with water? A Jordanian official answers

Today, Tuesday, Jordan’s Minister of Water and Irrigation, Muhammad al-Najjar, announced that Syria has refused to supply his country with 30 million cubic meters of water, as a result of the water situation in Syria.
Al-Najjar pointed out that during the past week, a tender was launched through the private sector, to expedite the rehabilitation of Al-Mukhaybeh wells to increase the quantities of water for Jordanian farmers in particular, according to Al-Mamlaka channel.
Direction for “Israel”
The Jordanian Minister of Water and Irrigation, Muhammad Al-Najjar, revealed earlier that his country is in the process of buying quantities of water from “Israel”, in a move aimed at compensating for the water shortage that Jordan suffers from.

In turn, the Rapporteur of the Water, Agriculture and Badia Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives, Najeh Al-Adwan, considered that Jordan is suffering from water poverty.
Adwan stressed that the Jordanian government pays great attention to this sector, pointing out that the country is able to get out of its water crisis this summer with calm and power.
Adwan considered that the water file is well managed by the state, and that there is stored and available water, and Jordan has several water sources and projects in the Mediterranean, but it always seeks to supply water safely from any source.

On November 22, the UAE, Jordan and Israel signed a declaration of intent regarding joint cooperation in the field of energy and water.
