The Ministry of Electricity receives the winter with cold dancing…Five hours cut off and one hour connected

Before the winter season begins and the cold intensifies, the rationing hours suddenly increased by a large percentage, and the rate of sudden interruptions outside the rationing hours increased with the beginning of this week in all governorates, and the rationing returned to 2 connected 4 cut off and in some areas 5 cut off a connected hour.
The Ministry of Electricity justified the reason through its sources speaking to a local newspaper (Al-Watan) that there has been an increase in loads (demand for electricity) during the last two days at a rate of 25 percent, while generation rates remained unchanged at about two thousand megawatts, which contributed to the high rate of deficit between demand and available and caused The increase in rationing hours in various governorates, in addition to the large number of interruptions due to frequency (frequency cutting), which increases with the high rate of loads, and that the frequency protection is tasked with protecting the network and transformers from cases of combustion.
And about the reason for the high loads, the source said that it was caused by the weather and the relative cold state during the last days, which prompted us to ask if a small change in the weather caused the loads to increase at a rate of 25 percent, so how will the situation be with the next winter? ) The winter of this year will be the worst electrically,
According to the ministry’s statements, the governorate with the highest electricity consumption comes in the Damascus countryside in the first place and surpasses Damascus in that because of the distribution of many industrial and craft facilities and workshops in it.
There are many of these crafts and workshops that operate and draw electricity in a different manner, while the consumption of the Quneitra governorate represents the lowest, up to 27 megawatts per day.
Regarding the distribution of the generated electric energy, the ministry indicated that at the sector level, the industrial consumption share of electricity is about 22 percent, compared to 48 percent that goes to domestic consumption, and about 20 percent is exempt from rationing to feed vital facilities that provide basic services to citizens, such as hospitals, mills and water pumping stations.
The Ministry of Electricity is looking into a project to implement a legislative instrument that requires industrialists to use alternative energies (solar and wind) instead of traditional energy (electricity) to secure part of their electricity needs to operate production lines and machines.
