After days of searching… the remains of a number of “death boat” migrants were found in Lebanon

A Lebanese submarine found on Friday the remains of at least seven migrants who drowned when their boat “death boat” capsized earlier this year off the coast of Lebanon, according to Lebanese media.
The boat was initially carrying about 80 Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians, who tried to sail to Italy, but sank more than 5 kilometers from the port of Tripoli.
Seven bodies were recovered that night, including one of a child, while a total of 48 survivors were taken out of the Mediterranean, while it is likely that 30 people drowned at the bottom of the sea with the boat.
The circumstances of the sinking of the boat are still in dispute to this day, as survivors say that the Lebanese navy collided with the boat, while the army indicates that the boat collided with a navy vessel while trying to escape.
The Lebanese army announced, last Monday, the launch of the submarine that was brought in to search for the bodies of the victims of the “death boat” off the city of Tripoli, about four months after the sinking of a boat carrying dozens of migrants.
The Commander of the Naval Forces in Lebanon, Colonel Haitham Dannawi, explained the details of the rescue submarine mission, which was launched from the port of Tripoli, towards the site of the sinking of the “death boat”.

The submarine began its work searching for the boat and the bodies of the victims, while this process was accompanied by more than a hundred foreign, Arab and local media outlets.
It is noteworthy that the boat sank on April 23, at a depth of about 470 meters, with a number of missing persons on board.
