On the sidelines of the “Astana” summit in Tehran, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the issues of the Syrian settlement, the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and the bilateral agenda.
Putin indicated that there are many questions about the Syrian settlement, promising major bilateral projects that are moving forward and developing, according to “Novosti” agency.
Putin noted that he had recently met with the Azerbaijani president in the framework of the Caspian Sea summit, conveying a great greeting to Erdogan from him, and said: “We have a very big agenda.”
Putin considered that he was happy to see Erdogan, and said: “We haven’t met for almost a year.” Erdogan answered: “We often talked on the phone.”
Putin stressed that relations between Russia and Turkey are developing despite everything, noting that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is growing very large.
The Russian president expressed his satisfaction that he was on the sidelines of the tripartite “Astana” summit, and he and Erdogan had the opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting, because “many questions have accumulated,” as he put it.
Today, Tuesday, Iran will host a tripartite summit gathering the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran, where a final statement is scheduled to be issued containing details of the meeting’s outcomes.
