Director of Air Transport at the General Organization for Civil Aviation, Fadi Junaidi, told “Hashtag” that the number of airline licensing applications submitted to the General Organization for Civil Aviation to license airlines exceeded twenty, indicating that some of them were able to complete the procedures by going far, while others were unable to complete what was required of them to obtain on the license.

Junaidi explained to “Hashtag” that creating an airline requires great financial capacity, and that the sanctions imposed on Syria constitute a stumbling block, as some Syrian businessmen wishing to establish a private Syrian airline are faced with the obstacle of not being able to purchase planes when they know their destination is to Syria. The sale process to them will be stopped directly, indicating that the only company currently obtaining the license is “Cham Wings”.
Granted licenses
As for the shipping offices, Junaidi indicated that the number of licensed ones is only 12, although there are many shipping offices, but they obtain licenses either through land or sea transport.

Junaidi pointed out that the conditions for obtaining licenses were facilitated in order to attract shipping offices to the airline.
The most prominent of the facilities is the reduction of fees from 2 million pounds to 750,000 pounds within 3 years. Because of the difficult circumstances caused by the war, the work of these offices stopped.
Service offices:
As for the aviation services offices, Junaidi indicated that the number of those who obtained licenses is eight offices that act as an intermediary between the General Organization of Civil Aviation and airlines of other countries.
Among the tasks mentioned by Junaidi is his assertion that if a European airline wants to cross Syrian airspace, and it does not have permissions and there is no direct interaction with it, it must obtain approvals by communicating with service offices to obtain approvals for this entity by the institution to carry out its flight through the territories Syrian.
